The Process
How Sculptra Works
- Pre Care
- Discuss your full medical history with your provider, including any allergies
- Avoid blood-thinning agents (NSAIDs) such as Advil, Ibuprofen, Aleve, Aspirin, Motrin, Vitamin E, fish oil, and St. John’s Wort for at least 7 days prior to treatment, unless medically necessary. These can increase your risk of bruising.
- Begin taking Arnica Montana (a natural supplement that helps reduce bruising and swelling) 3–5 days prior to treatment. It can be continued post-treatment to support faster healing and minimize visible bruising.
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before your appointment to minimize bruising
- Come hydrated and with clean skin—free of makeup, lotion, or SPF
- Let your provider know if you’re prone to keloids or scarring
- During Treatment
Your provider will assess your goals, facial anatomy, and skin quality to create a customized Sculptra plan. The treatment involves a series of injections placed strategically in areas where volume loss, fine lines, or hollowing are present.
You may feel mild pressure or a slight pinch during the procedure. The session typically lasts 45-60 minutes. You can return to your day immediately after.
Unlike fillers, Sculptra results build gradually, stimulating collagen over the following weeks to months.
- Post Care
- Massage the area for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days
- Apply a cold compress (wrapped in cloth) as needed during the first 24 hours to reduce swelling
- Avoid strenuous exercise, tanning, or extreme heat/sun exposure for 24 hours
- Skip lasers, skin tightening, or IPL for at least 2–3 weeks post-treatment
- Use Tylenol if you experience mild discomfort (avoid NSAIDs unless medically necessary)
- Contact us if you experience persistent swelling, discomfort, or unusual symptoms
